LIFESTRUCK: Occupy your mind

Occupymind-sr

I was reminded this morning that "life is in the stories we choose." Or perhaps more aptly; "it is in the stories we tell ourselves." (and then believe)

An early morning "irrit" (lets just be honest and call them an idiot) who cut you off in the traffic very often transforms itself successfully into an all day IRRITATION. What if, instead of showing him the finger and taking all that IRRIT with you, You chose to tell yourself a different story, what if the "irrit" was really just a means to slow you down a little, then the "hottie" that you saw earlier would catch up to you and you could laugh? and smile at them ... and get a smile back and your favourite song came on the radio, then you could turn the music up, put the windows down and suck in some Jozi sunshine? It is the power of telling yourself a different story. Would your day be the same? Would being told that the project that you have worked through the night on only to be told you have done it ALL wrong take the wind from your sails or would you say " bugger that, it's sTuesday (Choose your own day, thats mine 8-) this is what i have learnt and how cool is this that i can apply a new skill? - l am going to make it happen"

As i tell my clients ... this is the next stage of the HERO's journey and like any other it is about the story you tell. Either you are going to apply yourself to this and believe it or not. It is either "the coolest opportunity to change the way i think about, live about and bring about" or "this is a pain in the butt"
Your choice. You are the story that you tell! One moment. Your choice.
What are you choosing right now in this moment?
